Dancing In Barcelona

Barcelona is renowned for their dance culture, it not only brings the people together but also symbolises their national pride. Throughout history the Catalonians wish for independence has always been threatening, so much so that the Spanish Dictator Franco made numerous laws in order to remove cultural Catalonians  traditions.

In this series of Photos Maria a photographer from barcelona, focused more closely on dancing in unity. The incorporation of architecture in the shots visually expresses Havelock Ellis’s viewpoint that ‘Dancing and Building are the two primary and essential arts’ ;”The art of dancing stands as the source of all the arts that express themselves first in the human person. Architecture, is The beginning of all the arts that lie outside the person; and in the end they unite”

The art of dance goes deeper that the innkeep rhythmical rebounds;  this rhythim is the rhythm of life and the universe that still echoes to the stars and ripples against the sea even when there is nobody present to witness it.
